36/365 {art}

This morning I had the privilege of walking the “art walk “at Sydney’s school.  The hallway was bursting with so many great projects.  These budding artists have really been hard at work learning about various forms of art, different artists and their styles as well as making their own art.

On display from Sydney’s class were tie-dye challah covers with their names embroidered on them, which we’ll be sure to use.  Ansel Adam like photos they took on a walk, along with a canvas they painted (they made a tree and each childs hand prints were on it as the leaves, self portraits created with oil crayons, fork art, and a few other things.  My absolute favorite though had to be this oh so colorful canvas that she and daddy made the other night … painting with fun textures…

I know just where I am going to hang it as soon as it comes home next week!

ps- the lighting in the hallway at school is lousy

the last of the tubing pics…

We got to the “hill” around 5pm.  The kids were all psyched and ready to hit the slopes so to speak.  So, after we got all the tickets, we sent everyone on their way…all 123 of them!  Yes, that’s right, our trip included 123 middle school kids, a few siblings and some great chaperones and it all went off without a hitch!  Our numbers were up by close to 30 this year; we were excited about that.  The night was perfect, the air was warmish…close to 40 degrees and those Ugg’s were worth every cent…my feet stayed toasty!  That said, I wasn’t outside the whole 4 hours, my friend, Julie and I did walk up to the ski lodge to grab some dinner, but seriously, they did stay warm.  I will be getting another pair…lol

It was pretty dark and hard to get pics and I was busy hanging with my friend…but I did mange to grab a few snaps of my crew…although none of Andrew….he wouldn’t be seen with me..ha ha.  (that’s not really true but I was trying to be the cool mom and not embarrass him with his friends… ;) )

on the way up the hill…the big light was shining directly in the face… :)

it’s good to the princess and get pulled; they were waiting in line for the up hill people mover…Syd was too tired to walk up the hill.  You can only ride one person per tube but you can connect up to 4 tubes… the kids loved tubing together

after the last run down the hill… he was tired and ready to go home

Josh, Matthew’s bff  was there since his brother is in middle school… good times for my boys and their friend!

It’s nice to see that after spending basically the whole summer together, they are still having fun with each other…

(yes, Matthew needs a hair cut, I know…it’s on the things to do list this week)

I am We are definately going to be sad when our pool days for this season are over…

{popcorn makes it better}

My family is not generally into popcorn, but lately it’s been one of Syd’s main staples.

Last night I went out with Matthew to a school event (4th grade fun night) and Syd was so sad and mad that she couldn’t come. She was crying and really making me feel bad. Thank G-d the lightbulb went off in my head…I put popcorn in the microwave and turned on a movie in my room for her… and you guessed it…all was good in Sydney’s world.

And for the record she was home with her dad and 2 other brothers so nothing to be sad about it. I think it was more that she is so used going with me to school things that she didn’t understand why this was different.

Fun night was just that…fun! It is a district wide event that is held at the high school and the kids have open gym, use of the pool, speed ball,ping pong, board games, other games, snacks, snacks and more snacks…. fun times had by all!

{fall fun}

Guess what we did on Sunday after Max’s soccer game?

Are you guessing…. lol…

keep guessing…

yup, we finally made it apple picking! Apple picking is a perfect fall activity and something we’ve done for the last several years…we always have a good time. For some reason, we didn’t do it last year and we were sad, so somehow… we were fitting it into our “O” so busy lives this year… Of course I took lots of pics, but don’t worry, I won’t share them all, but be prepared… there will be another post with some more..I’ll just share a few for now.

Since it was late in the season, the low apples on most of the trees were gone…but fortunately we have big brothers…

or we would just climb the tree…that seems to work

as we got further into the orchard we got lucky and found some low apples…mmmmm….these were really good!

and then we hit the lottery because we found some ladders…

Wow, all this work makes me hungry she says…as she takes a bite… and guards our bushel!

to be continued….

{playground fun}

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday but it was a really busy day. I will try to post twice today to make up for it! Because I do have pics I want to share…

Who am I to deny my child time at the playground since before we know it, the long, ugly, cold days of of winter will be upon us. We need to cherish any outdoor moments we can get right now! Actually, it’s been beautiful, I am enjoying the time outside just as much as the kids! Sydney loves playing at the park at the boys school, so most times we go there I have to build some play in to our time there. This past week we were there 4 out of 5 days for a few hours each day… you know Sydney had some play time! And this week coming up we will be there a bunch as well… lots going on on the volunteer front.

Honestly, their school playground is probably one of the best around..I am very impressed by it. It’s better than all the local parks play areas, that is for sure!

Not sure why, but I really like this photo maybe because the intense look of concentration on her face

climbing the rock wall…

oh no, a spaceship landed.. and look what it left us…

I just grabbed these off my flickr….no time to resize for my blog… so you’ll have to have the “old” size…sorry!
