It’s my birthday too… yeah! Special birthday post here… regular posting will resume tomorrow…a few more posts of “up north”, back to school pics (they start Tuesday/Wed) and then…yes, finally I will get into our vacation pics. Actually, the timing is probably perfect…just as school starts and we’ll be sad that summer is over I will be able to re-live it all over again…
But now, onto the important business of the day… my birthday…All I can say is that I am beyond lucky and fortunate…I have had one of the best summers of my life…and this birthday weekend was no exception…the perfect ending to the perfect summer.
The birthday celebration started on Friday…we went to friends for dinner…had fun like always with them and didn’t get home til after midnight. We got a late start on Sat. since we slept in a bit. but it’s the last (unofficial) weekend of summer so who cares. After breakfast the kids announced they were going out with Shawn and I had the better part of the day to myself…I was thinking…wow… that’s a birthday present within itself!!! (remember, my kids did no camp this summer…I definitely had some breaks but seriously I was with them the majority of the time). I call my friend and we make plans to grab starbucks and get a mani/pedi. What a delightful afternoon…lattes, girl talk, pedi’s….
We went to dinner on Sat. night with other friends of ours…to celebrate my bday along with their son’s bday (which is tomorrow). Matthew and Josh are best buds and all the kids get along great. Another fun evening. Here is the gang, after dinner in the light rain…

Ok, now onto today… Shawn asked what I wanted to do…I said, you know…after the running around we did this summer I would love nothing more than to stay in bed for the morning and finish the book I was reading. So when I woke up, I was greeted with breakfast in bed…a bagel, lox and cream and starbucks latte (Syd had asked me the other day what I wanted for breakfast on my bday)…I enjoyed my breakfast and was reading my book when all of a sudden a parade came in my room… 4 kids and 1 dog…as they walked in, each carrying a box (Sasha had her present attached to her collar—note the curling ribbon in the pic)…they said..1, 2, 3 and 4 (and 5 for sasha). That was the order in which the boxes needed to be opened. OMG…I was so surprised. The presents looked so nice I had to grab a pic before I opened them…

I open box 1… find a gift… open box 2…find a gift… open box 3…find a gift. I was starting to think that my kids were helping me stay on my diet… because this is what I found in each of the boxes

they were all laughing… and then I opened box 4….

yes, that is right…my family spoiled me with a brand new, 24 inch iMac…wireless keyboard, mouse (even though that is not on the box…) Box 5 was iWorks. And wait, it’s not over yet…my ps is getting switched to mac and upgraded to cs4 (I have been running cs2)….I feel beyond lucky…
And this my friends, was the icing on my cake…literally…

got a little crushed in the car but that is ok… Notice anything different? The credit for that all goes to Andrew…he’s witty just like his dad and beat him to the punch on this one. Syd obviously picked the cake and the decorations…lol…she’s all about the pink. The kids wanted the cake to say Cheryl not mom…funny. Again, I can say that this really was a great day… and btw, I did eventrually finish my book today!!!
I just want to say to Shawn and my kids…thank you so much for an incredible birthday and summer…you guys are the best…I love you all sooooo very much!!!!
A favorite activity among all the boys while we were up north was tubing…and they were lucky enough to do it a bunch of different times…such fun!
get ready… (lovely color cast from the tube…haha)

get set… go

and they pass by again…

and finally they are dumped off…left to swim back to shore…

What a blast!

This little dingy was a huge hit with Andrew when we were up north… he went out on this boat several times a day, every day. I like to think that he just enjoyed it but maybe the fact that he was able to escape the 2 moms and the 5 other children had something to do with it…lol
Between our summer whirlwind and the “C” family summer vacation…these bff’s have barely seen each other at all. Syd definitely missed H! Well, that has changed now…we are home, they are home… and they joined us for an afternoon of fun in the sun at the pool yesterday. Not only did the kids all have a great time, but I also enjoyed spending time and catching up with my friend… it was the perfect afternoon!
