Shabbat
August 20, 2010 – 11:18 pm
On Friday night we had a very special Shabbat dinner with one of our most favorite families, ever (aka Josh’s family). Calling Julie a few weeks ago and telling her we were moving was something I dreaded. It was a very emotional phone call as you can imagine. Not only are Matthew and Josh best friends, but we as families all hit it off. Julie and I a great friends, Shawn and Teddy are a great friends, Andrew and Noah…Sydney and Benji.. the kids do things together (like tonight, Andrew and Noah went to the movies), we do things with Julie and Ted sans kids, Julie and I do things, Shawn and Teddy do things and of course we do things with all 11 of us…we have gone to dinner, gone to shows, went away together, Brewer games, hockey games, areana football games, celebrated birthdays, have just hung out (you get the point)….. it doesn’t matter what we do because no matter what we do, we ALWAYS have a good time.
Friday night was no exception… Friday was the first Shabbat the kids were home (hence the smiley faces) and we were honored that they wanted to share it with us. Not only did she prepare a wonderful meal, but she set the table in style…she went with a WI theme…just look at the place card holders for the kids… they are WI pencils…cow pencils with cheese head erasers. I had to laugh, because when we first moved here, we sent these back east to many friends… and here they were giving them to us as a WI memento… Josh likes bobble heads so he picked 2 that represented WI to put on each side of the table…a badger one and one from the Dells. Not only is the Dells a WI thing, but we went away to the Dells with them over spring break for a couple of days.
Fortunately, we were able to forget for the night that we are moving and had yet, another good time. Even though we aren’t here much longer we actually have a few more things planned with them which will be fun. Man, we are really going to miss them but I know for sure that this not goodbye, it’s only till next time as we are already making plans to get together after we move. Love you Julie… thanks for such a wonderful evening… you rock girlfriend.
Frog Hunting
August 19, 2010 – 1:24 pm
My boys are not the only ones who had fun in a lake this summer. On the last day of our house hunting trip we spent the afternoon at the lake. In our new area, there are lakes everywhere…some private for the township residents, others public. It was a nice ending to our week… a little time to relax and process our whole week. Off to the side of the swimming area, was a more marshy area… aka frog catching… Syd unfortunately (or fortunately) did not catch any.
